Luzon
- Luzon is the largest and most populous island in the Philippines. It is ranked 15th largest in the world by land area. Located in the northern portion of the archipelago, it is the economic and political center of the nation, being home to the country's capital city, Manila, as well as Quezon City, the country's most populous city.

- Luzon was originally inhabited by Negritos before Austronesians from Taiwan scattered and displaced them. The Austronesian groups were divided into two types of nations; coastal lowland states or highland civilizations. Highland civilizations were based in the mountains and had built up plutocracies based on agriculture, such as the Igorot Society which is responsible for building many of the rice terraces in the Cordillera Mountains, among the most notable being the Banaue Rice Terraces.
